Across the Universe - The Beatles

Washington, 4 fev (EFE).- A canção "Across the Universe", dos Beatles, iniciou às 21h59 (de Brasília) de hoje uma longa viagem pelo cosmos, em um dos atos da Nasa para celebrar seus 50 anos de existência. A transmissão durou quatro minutos, mas demorará 430 anos para chegar à estrela Polaris, informou Alan Buis, porta-voz do Laboratório de Propulsão a Jato (JPL) da agência espacial americana. A Nasa decidiu transmitir "Across the Universe" pelo espaço para celebrar seus 50 anos de existência, o nascimento dos Beatles, e os 40 anos da canção.
A agência espacial americana informou em uma nota divulgada hoje que a música dos Beatles viajará pelo espaço a 300 mil quilômetros por segundo. "Este é o melhor dia para transmitir uma canção que fala de amor e que não é só para a Terra, mas para todo o universo", disse Martin Lewis, um fã dos Beatles que idealizou a transmissão de "Across the Universe" pelo espaço e mostrou sua idéia às autoridades da Nasa.
"Eles se entusiasmaram porque este ano são comemoradas muitas proezas da Nasa e ao mesmo tempo é o aniversário de 40 anos do dia em que a canção foi gravada", acrescentou. Os Beatles gravaram quatro versões de "Across the Universe", e a primeira delas foi a escolhida para a transmissão à estrela Polaris, informou a Nasa.
O ex-beatle Paul McCartney disse na semana passada que a idéia de lançar a canção ao espaço era fabulosa, e pediu à Nasa que transmitisse suas "saudações aos extraterrestres". A viúva de John Lennon, Yoko Ono, assinalou que a transmissão da música tema é um acontecimento importante, que pode representar uma "nova era" no contato com o espaço. "Vejo isto como o começo de uma nova era na qual nos comunicaremos com bilhões de planetas por todo o Universo", disse a artista. EFE
